This is one of the most common questions clients ask at the beginning of any project. “What will it cost?” When it comes to Kitchens we always start by letting clients know the average cost from low to high.
For a Kitchen on the low end with just basic renovations, essentially replacing what’s there now in the same exact place with minimal construction and using lower end cabinets (particle board boxes and veneer doors), plastic laminate counters, 4” plastic laminate backsplash, vinyl flooring, basic appliances in white or black finish, you are usually at a starting point of $15,000.
The average Kitchen remodel costs $50,000. For this price range you will be able to make some changes to the layout, go with decent quality cabinets, granite counters, tile backsplash, wood or tile floor, and basic stainless steel appliances.
High end Kitchen remodels can cost over $100,000. When we design high end Kitchens for clients we are specifying top of the line cabinets, such as Wood-Mode, Poggenpohl, Snaidero, or custom made cabinets. Counters are often quartz. Decorative tile backsplash is installed to the ceiling when possible. Wood, porcelain, or stone floors are popular in this price range. The appliances are high end residential or professional, such as Subzero, Wolf, or Viking.
Whatever budget range you find yourself in, making smart decisions in layout and selection of material and finishes will make all the difference. The Kitchen is the most expensive room in the house, be sure to protect your investment by consulting with a professional interior designer to insure you’re making wise choices.
