HORIZONTAL WINDOW BLINDS

In the world of window treatments, blinds can be a great solution to a window dilemma.  So, you have decided you would like to use blinds for your window treatments, very quickly you realize choosing the right type of blind for your window may not be quite as simple as you thought.  Blinds still have two basic types, Horizontal (sometimes referred to as Venetian) and Vertical.  In this blog, we will break down the various types of Horizontal Blinds available today and review some pros and cons of each.

Horizontal blinds are typically 1” or 2” slats laid in, you guessed it – a horizontal configuration.  Horizontal Blinds open and close in an up and down motion and have an option to adjust the slats, allowing them to tilt for light control throughout the day as well as privacy. REAL WOOD BLINDS

Real wood blinds are a very popular option.  They look beautiful and are always classic, working with most interior styles.  A great advantage to using real wood blinds is that they weigh less than faux wood options and for a larger window, the lighter weight can make a big difference.  They tend to be the most expensive blind and should not be used in high humidity areas as they are also prone to warp when exposed to moisture. FAUX-WOOD BLINDS

Faux wood blinds are a great option for many.  They are made from a wood and plastic composite that makes for a very durable product, which is one of its greatest advantages.  Faux-wood blinds are also a budget-friendly option; they cost less than the real wood varieties and aesthetically have come a long way, looking great in any space.  They are also a wise choice if you want a wood look blind in a high moisture area, as they will not warp.ALUMINUM/METAL BLINDS

Aluminum or Metal blinds can offer a more contemporary interior design element than other blinds.  They can be equally budget-friendly as Faux-Wood blinds, although not quite as durable.  They are also an excellent choice for use in a higher moisture area, such as bathrooms and kitchens. VINYL BLINDS

Vinyl blinds have come a long way.  They are a good choice for someone on a tight budget, as they are typically the least expensive option.  You can get a great looking blind that can handle high moisture areas.  They are not as durable as their counterparts and can end up creasing if bumped too hard.

Blinds have evolved over the years.  The quality options available are perhaps greater than they have ever been.  Take your time and explore all the choices.  You will undoubtedly find the perfect blind for your window!
