HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT VERTICAL BLINDS

In our previous blog, we discussed the options available in Horizontal blinds. Today, we are going to delve into Vertical blinds. Vertical blinds are slats/veins that are laid in a vertical configuration. They come in a 4” standard slat size that opens or closes in a sideways motion.

Let’s break down the various options available to review some of the pros and cons of each.

Fabric and Vinyl Vertical Blinds

Traditional vertical blinds have used for decades. Fabric vertical blinds primarily used in commercial applications nowadays because they tend to look dated in residential interiors. These are used for very large windows or sliding glass doors.

They are budget-friendly.  Tend to be the least expensive option. These blinds are versatile for light control they can be fully opened for maximum light exposure or kept in the closed position. Adjusting only the slats to allow the desired amount of light into space. Sheer Vertical Blinds

Sheer Vertical Blinds takes a vinyl panel and “camouflages” it with a sheer fabric material draped over it. It adds a very soft and sophisticated look to your blinds. These allow for light control and form. More cost-effective than having custom sheers made and offer great durability and privacy.

Sheer vertical blinds operate in the same fashion as traditional verticals, pulling completely open for maximum light or tilting the slats for light control. Panel Track Vertical Blinds

Vertical Blinds have morphed into Panel Track Vertical Blinds. Panel track blinds are very wide fabric vertical blinds that do not tilt. Used in contemporary interior design for an updated aesthetical look. In other words, overlapping wide fabric panels that are connected and slide back and forth much like a drape.

Pros/Cons

Panel track vertical blinds only limitation is losing some light control, as you lose the “tilt” option to adjust the slats. Panel track blinds are easy to remove the panels from the track. (The velcro is used to secure the panels). To allow for maximum customization as they can easily be changed for seasons or holidays.

This option is not as budget-friendly as traditional fabric verticals, the investment is usually less than sheer vertical blinds while offering a very custom look.

Window Blind Options

Window blind options are continuously changing and improving. There several factors to consider when trying to decide what kind of blinds will work best in your space.

Factors To Consider

What kind of function will they be serving? Are they in a high traffic area where durability is a factor?  How custom do you want them to be?

Conclusion

The options are endless. With a little effort, you are sure to find the perfect blinds for your space.
